·   Disconnect park/ neutral signal relay K13

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 30 or Ter. 86

to:      ground

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 30 or Ter. 86

to:      wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15

to:      wiring harness plug for filter heating U12 Ter. 1

 

 

·   Ignition ON

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 30 or Ter. 86

to:      ground

greater than 11 V

·   Fuse F15 defective

·   Short circuit to ground

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 30 or Ter. 86

to:      wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15

·   Circuit interruption

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 30 or Ter. 86

to:      wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15

·   Short circuit to ground

from:  wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15

to:      wiring harness plug for filter heating U12        Ter. 1

·   Fault in filter heating circuit U12 (see Checking Procedures, Digital Diesel Electronics DE 2.1)

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 85

to:      wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 50

to:      starter relay base, ATWS/ IMO K3 Ter. 87

to:      wiring harness plug for starter M1 Ter. 50

·   AT:

     Adjustment of AT switch S118 not okay (see Checking Procedures, Electronic 4-speed Automatic Transmission)

·   Anti-theft warning system:

     Short circuit to voltage in circuit for anti-theft warning system (see Checking Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)

 

 

 

 

·   Immobilizer:

     Short circuit to voltage in circuit for immobilizer (see Checking Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)

·   Fault in starter circuit

·   Starter relay, ATWS/ IMO K3 defective

 

 

·   Selector lever in "P" or "N" position

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance:

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 85

to:      ground

approx. 1 W

·   Circuit interruption

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 85

to:      wiring harness plug for starter M1 Ter. 50

·   Fault in starter circuit

·   AT:

     Adjustment of AT switch S118 not okay (see Checking Procedures, Electronic 4-speed Automatic Transmission)

 

 

·   Selector lever in "P" or "N" position

·   Anti-theft warning system/ immobilizer disarmed

·   Start engine

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

from:      base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 85

to:         ground

greater than 8 V

(Starter turns)

·   Short circuit to ground

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 85

to:      wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 50

to:      base of starter relay, ATWS/ IMO K3 Ter. 87

to:      wiring harness plug for starter Ter. 50

·   Circuit interruption

from:  base of park/ neutral signal relay K13 Ter. 85

to:      wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 50

to:      base of anti-theft warning system or immobilizer relay K3 Ter. 87

·   AT:

     Adjustment of AT switch S118 not okay (see Checking Procedures, Electronic 4-speed Automatic Transmission)

 

 

 

 

·   Anti-theft warning system:

     Short circuit to voltage in circuit for anti-theft warning system (see Checking Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)

·   Immobilizer:

     Short circuit to voltage in circuit for immobilizer (see Checking Procedures, Electronic Body Systems)

·   Fault in starter circuit

·   Starter relay, ATWS/ IMO K3 defective

 

 

 

If nominal values are attained

·   Park/ neutral signal relay K3 defective
