Trouble-shooting

Nominal Value

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Ignition ON

All telltales (oil level, battery, ABS, engine, airbag) briefly ON

·   Fuse F15 defective

·   Circuit interruption or short circuit to ground

from:       wiring harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15

to:           wiring harness plug for instrument Ter. 21

·   Strip conductor (on rear of instrument) defective

 

 

 

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from DDE control unit K70

·   Ignition ON

Preheater telltale H16 OFF

·   Short circuit to ground

from:       wiring harness plug for instrument strip conductor Ter. 20

to:           wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 11

·   Strip conductor (on rear of instrument) defective

 

 

 

 

 

·   Bridge wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 with electrically fused jumper

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 11

to:           ground

Preheater telltale H16 ON

·   Short circuit to voltage

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 11

to:           wiring harness plug for instrument Ter. 20

Note:

In this test, the fuse for the electrically fused jumper is blown.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·   Circuit interruption

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 11

to:           wiring harness plug for strip conductor Ter. 20

·   Strip conductor (on rear of instrument) defective

·   Preheater telltale H16 defective or corroded contacts

 

 

 

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 18 or Ter. 19

to:           ground

lower than 2 W

·   Circuit interruption

from:       wiring harness plug for DDE control unit K70 Ter. 18 or Ter. 19

to:           ground

 

 

 

 

 

 

If nominal values are attained

·   DDE control unit K70 defective
