·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect fuel pump relay K 44 Using multimeter, measure voltage at relay base Ter. 2 to ground.

11.5 to 13.5 V

·   Short circuit or lead interrupti on from - fuel pump relay K 44 / Ter. 2 to Ter. 30

 

·   Ignition ON Using multimeter, measure voltage at relay base Ter. 6 to ground.

11.5 to 13.5 V

·   Short circuit or lead interruption from

-    fuel pump relay K 44 / Ter. 6 to injectors relay K 43 / Ter. 8

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect control unit K 61

·   Using multimeter, check from relay base Ter. 4 to control unit K 61 / Ter. 3 for passage

approx. 0 W

·   Short circuit or lead interruption from fuel pump relay K 44 / Ter. 4 to Motronic control unit K 61 / Ter. 3

 

 

·   Bridge relay base Ter. 2 and Ter. 6

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage at control unit plug Ter. 37 to ground.

11.5 to 13.5 V

·   Short circuit or lead interruptio n from control unit K 61 / Ter. 37

-    fuel pump relay K 44 / Ter. 8

-    injectors Y 7 - 1 to Y 7 - 4

-    tank vent valve Y 34

-    hot film mass air flow meter P 44 / Ter. 3

-    exhaust gas recirculati on valve Y 18

-    air conditioning

 

 

·   Check fuel pressure (observe safety regulations)

·   Install pressure gauge in feed

·   Bridge relay base Ter. 2 and Ter. 8

Feed pressure: 2.5 to 3.0 bar

·   Fuse F 18 defective 

·   Short circuit or lead interruption from

-    fuel pump relay K 44 / Ter. 8  to fuse F 18 or oxygen sensor heating P 32

-    fuse F 18 to fuel pump M 21

·   Fuel tank empty

 

 

·   Using mltimeter, check from Motronic control unit plug K 61 / Ter. 24 to ground

approx. 0 W

·   Short circuit or lead interruption from Motronic control unit K 61 / Ter. 24 to ground

·   Fuel pump relay K 44 defective

·   Fuel pump M 21 defective

·   ATWS defective (if present)

·   Immobilizer defective (if present)

·   Control unit K 61 defective
