·   Check plug connection from knock sensor P 46 to control unit

 firm connection

·   Loose contact

·   Corroded contacts

 

·   Remove cover from control unit K 61

·   Disconnect control unit plug K 61

·   Check resistance at control unit plug K 61 / Ter. 1 1 to Ter. 30

 infinite W

·   Short circuit from

-    knock sensor P 46 / Ter. 1 to Ter. 2

-    control unit plug Ter. 1 1 to Ter. 30

 

·   Disconnect plug connection for knock sensor P 46

·   Short - circuit both contacts in knock sensor plug P 46

·   Measure resistance at control unit plug Ter. 1 1 to Ter. 30

·   Short circuit or lead interruption from

-    knock sensor P 46 / Ter. 1 to control unit K 61 / Ter. 1 1

-    knock sensor P 46 / Ter. 2 to control unit K 61 / Ter. 30

·   Knock sensor P 46 loose

·   Knock sensor P 46 defective

·   Control unit K 61 defective

 

Tightening torque for knock sensor: 7 to 12 Nm / 5 to 9 lbf. ft.
