  Remove

Disconnect ground cable from battery.

Remove/disconnect wiring harness plug (1) from intake air temperature sensor, wiring harness plug (2) from hot film mass air flowmeter, wiring harness plug from throttle valve potentiometer, crankcase ventilation hose (3) from cylinder head cover, air in take hose from throttle body and air cleaner housing. Lay air intake hose aside.

Disconnect wiring harness plug (4) from idle speed stepper motor.

For clearer representation, Illus. E 3719 shows the idle speed stepper motor with the engine removed.

Remove idle speed stepper motor (1) from throttle body.

  Clean

Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residue. Ensure utmost cleanliness – do not damage sealing surfaces.

Caution

Cover openings – foreign matter can cause severe damage to engine.

Attach idle speed stepper motor (1) to throttle body with new gasket (2). Connect wiring harness plug to idle speed stepper motor.

Fasten air intake hose to throttle body and to air cleaner housing.

Connect wiring harness plug to intake air temperature sensor, hot film mass air flowmeter and throttle valve potentiometer.

Fasten crankcase ventilation hose to cylinder head cover.

Connect ground cable to battery.
