Attaching Parts from Cylinder Head, Remove and
Install
Note: The operation
"Attaching Parts from Cylinder Head, Detach and Reattach" is
described for an X 20 SE Engine. Proceed analogously for other
engine versions.
Remove
Detach intake manifold (1) from cylinder head (3) – remove
gasket (2).
Remove spark plugs out of cylinder head with KM-194-E.
Detach heat shield sleeves from cylinder head with KM-834-A.
Detach heat shield (4) from exhaust manifold (5).
Detach exhaust manifold from cylinder head – remove gasket
(6).
Detach thermostat housing (7) from cylinder head – remove
gasket (8) from cylinder head.

Note: Check/overhaul
cylinder head – see operation "Cylinder Head and Attaching
Parts, Check and Align" and/or "Cylinder Head, Overhaul".
Clean
Clean all removed parts and sealing surfaces.
Install
Coat new seal ring (1) with silicon grease (white) and insert in
cylinder head.

Attach thermostat housing to cylinder head – tightening
torque 15 Nm / 11 lbf. ft.
Attach exhaust manifold to cylinder head with new gasket and new
fastening nuts – tightening torque 22 Nm / 16 lbf. ft.
Attach heat shield to exhaust manifold.
Lightly coat heat shield sleeves with assembly paste (white) and
attach heat shield sleeves to cylinder head with KM-834-A –
tightening torque 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft.
Install spark plugs in cylinder head using KM-194-E –
tightening torque 20 Nm / 14.7 lbf. ft.
