Special Program Module for Omega - B "Opel / Vauxhall 94 Omega - B ECU"

The Omega - E3 is the first model to have its own vehicle - specific program module. It is marketed under the designation "Opel / Vauxhall 94 Omega - B ECU" by EUROLINE.

This vehicle - specific program module was necessary, as it was not possible to assemble all of the new Omega - B systems together with systems from other vehicles on one program module.

New Function

The increasing complexity of linked electronic systems in vehicles makes new diagnostic techniques necessary. The new functions in the Omega - B program module include some features which will make trouble - shooting simpler for the user. Especially useful are:

-      Quick check

-      Check of installed engine control unit

-      Circuit test.

Quick Check

The quick check is the 5th option that can be chosen from the system menu, alongside the engine, transmission, chassis and body systems. When activated, this test selects and checks the engine, automatic transmission and ABS - 2SH control units consecutively.

Each system is checked for whether the correct control unit is installed and whether the control unit is programmed for the correct versions. This test runs automatically.

If an incorrect control unit or incorrect version code is determined, this is reported in the TECH 1 display and the test is completed.

If the installed control unit and the programmed version codes are correct, TECH 1 displays at the end of each test whether trouble codes are stored in the control unit that has just been checked. If this is the case, the trouble codes are displayed in TECH 1. After confirmation with the "YES" key, the test is continued.

Once the test is completely finished, all trouble codes stored in the tested control units are listed once again.

This test has been introduced because the linking of systems makes the "transfer" of trouble codes

possible. This means that a defect, an incorrect control unit or an incorrect version code will not only

lead to the storage of a trouble code in the affected control unit; invalid signal relaying win also provoke storage of trouble codes in other control units.

If the new test is correctly used and interpreted, it can indicate the following:

The check of installed control units can determine whether a trouble code is due to an incorrect or incorrectly programmed control unit.

The joint display of all trouble codes stored in linked systems allows the user to infer the trouble code which is the source of the fault.

Check of Installed Control Units

This is an abbreviated version of the quick check. This test is automatically performed when an engine control unit is selected. It checks whether the installed control unit is correct for the vehicle equipment and whether the correct version code has been programmed,
