Dewaxing

During the pre-delivery inspection, the standard storage and transport protective wax is removed before the vehicle is delivered to the customer. A proportion of new vehicles are stripped of the protective wax in large-scale dewaxing units. Dewaxing vehicles in the dealership must be performed using suitable high-pressure cleaning equipment; observe the legal stipulations and instructions issued by the manufacturer of the unit.

The following regulations must be followed:

•  Maintain minimum distance between flat nozzle and vehicle surface of 20 cm/8 in., or 40 cm/16 in. for glass screens.

•  Maximum hot water temperature of 80 ° C/176 ° F.

•  Use dewaxing material with max. 3% petroleum and max. 1% aromatic compounds.

•  Do not clean wheels and tyres with high-pressure cleaners.

Ignoring these regulations may lead to the following damage:

•  Melting of plastic inserts in protective trims strips and plastic or rubber parts on bumpers.

•  Partial greying of plastic and rubber parts.

•  Detachment of adhered trim strips, etching of painted parts.

•  Warping of trim strips, seals, screen wiper blades and screen mouldings.

•  Irreparable tyre damage.
