Preface

Corrosion protection - the protection of metal materials against electro-chemical destruction - is of prime importance for motor vehicles.

Corrosion-inhibiting designs, sophisticated production technology and advanced protective materials provide a high degree of corrosion protection in series production, a standard which the Service department must strive to maintain over the entire lifespan of the vehicle.

This brochure replaces brochure KTA-1582-GB dated April 1991 and contains the following information:

•  Definition and causes of corrosion

•  Corrosion protection measures in series production

•  Corrosion protection measures in Service

Thorough and detailed knowledge of corrosion and its avoidance - together with an extensive range of tested Service materials - are the tools that allow Opel/Vauxhall Service personnel to apply accurate, preventative protective measures and maintain each vehicle's high safety standards and value.
