Step 1 - Body-in-white  

Specific corrosion-prevention measures are included right from the beginning of construction designs for the body-in-white, and include:  

•  Development of body shapes that disperse water and dirt  

•  Selection of specific materials for areas exposed to the risk of corrosion, e.g. galvanised sheet metal  

•  Optimal shaping and joining techniques for body sheet metal parts  

•  Creation of well ventilated cavities  

•  Placement of water drain holes  

 

Example   Good drainage of dirt and water is promoted by water drain holes in the door shell.
