Spring Strut, Disassemble and Assemble  

Notice: 

Positions (5) and (7) in illustration F 9193 show the version with Niveaumat (Estate version only).  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove spring strut - see operation "Spring Strut, Remove and Install".  

Clamp spring compressor with spring strut in vice.  

Object Number: 616193  Size: DEFAULT  Disassemble   

Compress spring with spring compressor. Unscrew fastening nut (14). Remove plate (13) and upper part of rubber buffer.  

Pull shock absorber (6) or (7) from holder (11). Remove lower part of rubber buffer (10), spacer sleeve (9), plate (1), hollow buffer (2), upper damping ring (3) and lower damping ring (4) or (5). Release tension of spring (8).

Only replace springs in pairs. Only replace shock absorbers in pairs. When replacing springs or shock absorbers, use the components corresponding to the vehicle versions and equipment - see "Technical Data" and delivery range from the "Aftersales" division.  

Object Number: 616194  Size: DEFAULT  Assemble   

Compress spring with spring compressor.  

Insert lower damping ring, upper damping ring, hollow buffer, plate, spacer sleeve, lower part of rubber buffer and shock absorbers in holder. Push on upper part of rubber buffer and plate.  

Attach new fastening nut to shock absorber.  

Object Number: 616199  Size: DEFAULT  Tighten (Torque)   

Fastening nut to shock absorber - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Install spring strut - see operation "Spring Strut, Remove and Install".
