Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove engine cover from cylinder head cover.   Disconnect wiring harness plug (2) from ignition module (3).   Detach ignition module from cylinder head cover and withdraw from spark plugs using KM-6009 (1).   Detach engine vent hoses (4) from cylinder head cover.   Detach wiring harness plug from coolant temperature sensor and lay wiring harness (5) aside.   Detach coolant line (6) from thermostat housing, cylinder head cover and inlet manifold - lay coolant line aside.   Detach cylinder head cover (7) from cylinder head.

  Clean   

Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces.     Install, Connect    Apply adhesive sealing compound (black) to sealing surfaces (1).   Insert new gaskets (2) in cylinder head cover - sealing edges of gasket must be inserted in groove of cylinder head cover.   Attach cylinder head cover to cylinder head - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

  Install, Connect   

Attach engine vent hoses to cylinder head.  

Connect wiring harness plug to coolant temperature sensor.  

Attach coolant line to thermostat housing, to cylinder head cover and to inlet manifold.  

Connect ignition module to spark plugs and attach to cylinder head cover - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.  

Install engine cover on cylinder head cover.
