Air Intake Pipe, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL with Secondary Air System)  

  Important!   

When removing or installing the air intake pipe, ensure that no cable connections or hoses are disconnected or damaged. When installing the fastening clamp on throttle body, ensure that the clearance of the throttle valve curved disc (accelerator Bowden cable) is maintained.     Remove, Disconnect    Remove air intake pipe (3) from upper part of air cleaner housing. Detach wiring harness plug (2) from intake air temperature sensor and fastening bolt (1) from lower part of intake manifold. Detach cable tie at the air intake pipe. Detach engine cover from cylinder head cover. Remove engine vent hose (4) from air intake pipe. Disconnect wiring trough from the bulkhead. Remove air intake pipe (5) from throttle body and carefully take out upwards.

Notice: 

Before assembling components of the intake system (hoses, connections, etc.), they must be cleaned of any possible contamination (grease, oil, etc.). When tightening the hose clamps, be sure to observe exactly the tightening torque of 3.5 Nm / 2.6 lbf. ft.  

  Important!   

It is only ensured that the intake system is free of leaks, thus ensuring operational safety of the engine, if the hose clamps are tightened correctly to the prescribed tightening torque.  

  Install, Connect   

Attach air intake pipe to throttle body, to lower part of inlet manifold and to upper part of air filter casing.  

Attach engine vent hose to air intake pipe.  

Fasten wiring trough to bulkhead.  

Fasten cable loom to air intake pipe with cable tie.  

Attach wiring harness plug to intake air temperature sensor.  

Attach engine cover to cylinder head.
