Coolant Flange, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)     Remove, Disconnect    Remove intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1)" or "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)".   Remove alternator support bracket and pivot alternator to the rear. Unclip cable bundle at the coolant pipe (5) and unscrew coolant pipe fastening bolt (1) at the transmission.   Remove coolant hose from coolant flange (2) and coolant pump (3) - collect escaping coolant and lay coolant pipe aside.   Remove coolant flange (4) (2 fastening bolts) and take out downwards.     Clean    Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces.

  Install, Connect   

Attach coolant flange with new seal (1) to cylinder head.   Attach coolant hoses with coolant pipe to coolant flange and coolant pump.   Fasten coolant pipe to transmission.   Clip cable bundle to coolant pipe and install alternator support bracket.   Install intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1)" or "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)".   Top up cooling system - see operations "Cooling System, Top up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
