Coolant Pipe, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1)" or "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)".   Unscrew fastening bolt (arrow) for coolant pipe on transmission.   Unclip cable bundle (1) from coolant pipe.   Remove coolant pump coolant hose (4) and coolant hose for cylinder head flange (3) from coolant pipe - collect escaping coolant.   Detach radiator coolant hose (2) from coolant pipe.   Detach compensation tank coolant hose (6) from coolant pipe.   Release heater core coolant hose (5) in direction of arrow and disconnect from heater core.   Remove coolant pipe upwards.

  Important!   

When replacing the coolant pipe, it must be ensured that no cables or wiring harness plugs are pinched. Ensure correct hose routing and correct seating  

  Install, Connect   

Insert coolant pipe.  

Attach and lock coolant hose to heater core.  

Attach compensation tank coolant hose to coolant pipe.  

Attach radiator coolant hose to coolant pipe.  

Attach coolant pump coolant hose and cylinder head flange coolant hose to coolant pipe.  

Fasten cable bundle to coolant pipe.  

Attach coolant pipe to transmission with fastening bolt.  

Install intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1)" or "Intake Manifold, Remove and Install (Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)".  

Top up cooling system - see operations "Cooling System, Top up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
