Thermostat Housing, Remove and Install (X16XEL, Y16XE, Z16XE) > < Auxiliary Fan Motor, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL without Secondary Air System, Y 16 XE, X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE)

 

Thermostat, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL, Y 16 XE, Z 16 XE)  

Notice: 

Illustration F 4033 shows X 16 XEL.  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Mark running direction of ribbed V-belt. Tension ribbed V-belt tension roller clockwise with KM-913-A and remove ribbed V-belt from pulleys.  

Remove both fastening bolts for power steering pump from auxiliary aggregates support - note different bolt lengths - hydraulic system remains closed.  

Suspend power steering pump at suitable point.  

Remove lower radiator hose from radiator - collect escaping coolant. Remove upper radiator hose from thermostat housing. Remove thermostat housing cover (1) with thermostat from thermostat housing.

Object Number: 616195  Size: DEFAULT  Clean   

Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Insert new seal ring (1) into thermostat housing cover.  

Attach thermostat housing cover to thermostat housing with thermostat - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.  

Attach power steering pump to auxiliary aggregate support - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.  

Tension ribbed V-belt tension roller clockwise with KM-913-A and position ribbed V-belt - note running direction of ribbed V-belt.  

Install upper and lower coolant hoses.  

Top up cooling system - see operations "Cooling System, Top up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
