Thermostat, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL, Y 16 XE, Z 16 XE)  

Notice: 

Illustration F 4033 shows X 16 XEL.  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Mark running direction of ribbed V-belt. Tension ribbed V-belt tension roller clockwise with KM-913-A and remove ribbed V-belt from pulleys.   Remove both fastening bolts for power steering pump from auxiliary aggregates support - note different bolt lengths - hydraulic system remains closed.   Suspend power steering pump at suitable point.   Remove lower radiator hose from radiator - collect escaping coolant. Remove upper radiator hose from thermostat housing. Remove thermostat housing cover (1) with thermostat from thermostat housing.

  Clean   

Remove gasket remnants and clean sealing surfaces.     Install, Connect    Insert new seal ring (1) into thermostat housing cover.   Attach thermostat housing cover to thermostat housing with thermostat - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.   Attach power steering pump to auxiliary aggregate support - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.   Tension ribbed V-belt tension roller clockwise with KM-913-A and position ribbed V-belt - note running direction of ribbed V-belt.   Install upper and lower coolant hoses.   Top up cooling system - see operations "Cooling System, Top up and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for Leaks".
