Camshaft Sensor, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

For X 16 XEL with secondary air system: Remove upper part of intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold - Upper Part, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL with Secondary Air System)". Disconnect wiring harness plug for camshaft sensor (1) at fuel distributor pipe bracket. Remove cable ties for camshaft sensor cable.   For X 16 XEL without secondary air system: Unclip wiring harness plug for camshaft sensor at throttle body bracket (2) and disconnect.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove fastening bolts (1) and unclip upper part of toothed belt cover from rear toothed belt panelling.   Detach camshaft sensor (2) from cylinder head.     Install, Connect    Attach camshaft sensor to cylinder head with new fastening bolts - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. 1)    .   Install upper part of toothed belt cover - tightening torque 4 Nm / 3 lbf. ft.   For X 16 XEL with secondary air system: Secure camshaft sensor cable with cable ties. Connect wiring harness plug for camshaft sensor at fuel distributor pipe bracket. Install upper part of intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold - Upper Part, Remove and Install (X 16 XEL with Secondary Air System)".   For X 16 XEL without secondary air system: Connect wiring harness plug for camshaft sensor and clip into throttle body bracket.

1)  Re-cut thread in cylinder head before re-use. Insert new fastening bolts with bolt locking compound (red). The installation time including torque check is max. 5 min.
