Manual Transmission and Differential   Transmission Identification   Eight differently designed transmissions are used in production (F 13, F 15, F 17, F 18, F 18+, F 23, F 25 and F 35). The identification of transmissions F 13, F 15, F 18, F 18+ is cast on the top face of the casing. For F 15:   For the F 15 manual transmission, the transmission number is embossed on the end shield (arrow).   The combination of digits is identical to the combination for the F 13 transmission.

 

For F 17:   For the F 17 transmission, the transmission number is on the end shield.   Data:     1  Manufacturing plant (A = Aspern, B = Bochum)   2  Day in year   3  Last digit of year   4  Work shift (1 = early shift, 2 = late shift)   5  Transmission type (F 17)   6  Transmission code   W = Wide Ratio   C = Close Ratio   7  Final drive ratio

For F 25 / F 35:   The identification plate for the F25 and F 35 is attached horizontally at the top on the clutch housing.   Data on the identification plate F 25/F35   (1)   =   Manufacturing plant (S = Saab)   (2)   =   Day in year   (3)   =   Last digit of year   (4)   =   Work shift; 1 = Early shift, 2 = Late shift   (5)   =   Serial number   (6)   =   Close Ratio (close ratio gear set)   (7)   =   Part number   (8)   =   Final drive ratio   (9)   =   Part code     All transmissions:   The transmission identification may also be on two parts.   All transmissions except F 25/F 35:   When replacing the end shield cover, transfer the identification to the new cover.
