Gasket for End Shield Cover, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)  

Gasket for Transmission Cover, Replace (F 25/F 35)  

Operation describes procedure for F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+. For F 25/F 35, proceed analogously.     Remove, Disconnect    Disconnect ground lead from battery. With all petrol engines: remove torque support. With all diesel engines: Remove upper fastening nut for right engine damping block. Remove left front wheel. Partially loosen wheel housing panelling.   Place hydraulic jack with rubber pad under transmission.   With all petrol engines: Remove lower fastening nut from right engine damping block.   Unscrew front left engine damping block bracket from transmission (3 bolts). Remove nut (arrow) from left engine damping block. Remove engine damping block bracket with engine damping block. Lower hydraulic jack until all bolts from end shield cap are accessible.

  Remove, Disconnect   

Unscrew end shield cover. Remove gasket for end shield cover.   Clean sealing surfaces.     Install, Connect    Apply end shield cover with new gasket and tighten.   Connect bracket for engine damping block front left at transmission. Connect motor damping block front right and left to front axle body. Install wheel housing panelling. Attach front left wheel.   Vehicles with diesel engines: Attach fixing nut to right motor damping block. For vehicles with petrol engines install reaction member. Note installation position. Connect ground cable to battery.   Check transmission fluid level - see operation "Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct".     Tighten (Torque)    M7 - 15 Nm / 11 lbf. ft., M8 - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft., bracket motor damping block on transmission - 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft., motor damping block at front axle body - 45 Nm / 33 lbf. ft., wheel at wheel nut - 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft., Torque support at reaction member bracket - 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. Vehicles with diesel engines: Fixing nut at motor damping block - 45 Nm / 33 lbf. ft.
