Shift Linkage, Remove and Install (except F 23)
 Remove, Disconnect Loosen bolt for gearshift clamp (1). Pull gearshift lever in 4th gear position and separate plug connection. Loosen bellows (2) from bulkhead and remove. Remove centre console - see operation "Centre Console, Remove and Install" in group "C". |

Remove, Disconnect Detach gearshift lever panel (2 bolts, arrows). Pull gearshift lever panel upwards, release and disconnect plug connections for window winders. Detach shift housing with shift rod from underbody (4 bolts, arrows). |

Remove, Disconnect Press clamp (1) from gearshift lever and pull out pin. Remove gearshift lever upwards. Pull shift rod out of bearing bushing in direction of arrow. Press bushing and bearing bushing out of shift housing using screwdriver. |

Remove, Disconnect Press bearing bushing (1) out of bushing (2).
 Install, Connect Screw new bearing bushing (1) into bushing (2). Press bushing from inside into shift housing. Fill inner grooves of bushing with silicone grease. Place gearshift lever into guide. Insert shift rod into bearing bushing. Insert pin and press clamp (3) onto gearshift lever. |

 Tighten (Torque) Place shift housing with shift rod on underbody and fasten (4 bolts) - 6 Nm / 4 lbf. ft.
Install, Connect Install centre console - see operation "Centre Console, Remove and Install" in group "C". Slide folding cover untwisted onto shift rod and insert in bulkhead. Slide clamp onto shift rod - do not tighten bolt.
 Adjust Adjust transmission shift linkage - see operation "Transmission Shift Linkage, Adjust (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+/F 25/F 35)".
Tighten (Torque) Tighten bolt for shift rod clamp - 12 Nm / 9 lbf. ft. + 180 ° .
