Drive Shaft and/or Roller Bearing, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)

Notice: 

Transmission remains installed.  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove shift cover (1) - see operation "Shift Cover, Disassemble and Reassemble (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Remove reversing lamps switch (2).   Remove end shield cover (3) - see operation "Gasket for End Shield Cover, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Remove end shield (4) from transmission - see operation "Gasket for End Shield, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".

  Disassemble   

Remove drive shaft (1) with retaining ring (2) and ball bearing (3) - see operation "End Shield with Main Shaft and Drive Shaft, Disassemble and Reassemble (F 15/F 17)".   Press off ball bearing (4) with KM-407-A (6) from drive shaft (5). With F 13 with suitable pipe - Observe installation position.   Remove retaining ring.     Important!    If gear cluster teeth are damaged, always check the corresponding gear on the main shaft and replace if necessary.

  Assemble   

Attach new retaining ring (1) to drive shaft (2) and press on ball bearing (3) with KM-311/2 (4). For F 18/F 18+ with KM-334.   Install drive shaft (7) with retaining ring (6) and ball bearing (5) - see operation "End Shield with Main Shaft and Drive Shaft, Disassemble and Reassemble (F 15/F 17)".

  Install, Connect   

Install end shield (1) in transmission - see operation "Gasket for End Shield, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Install gasket for end shield cover (2) - see operation "Gasket for End Shield Cover, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Install reversing lamps switch (4) with new seal ring - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.   Install shift cover (3) - see operation "Shift Cover, Disassemble and Reassemble (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".     Inspect    Check transmission fluid level - see operation "Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".
