Bearings for Main and Drive Shaft in Transmission Housing, Remove and Install (F 17)  

Notice: 

Transmission remains installed.  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove shift cover (1) - see operation "Shift Cover, Disassemble and Reassemble (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Remove reversing lamps switch (2).   Remove end shield cover (3) - see operation "Gasket for End Shield Cover, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Remove end shield (4) from transmission - see operation "Gasket for End Shield, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove differential - see operation "Differential, Remove and Install (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".  

  Disassemble   

Pull needle bearing (3) for bearing of drive shaft out of transmission with Counter Support KM-556-A (1) and MKM-599 (2).   Pull roller bearing (4) for bearing of main shaft out of transmission with Counter Support KM-556-A (6) and KM-556-2 (5).

  Assemble   

Drive in flush new roller (3) bearing for bearing main shaft in transmission using KM-454-3 (5) in conjunction with KM-454-4 (4).   Drive in flush new needle bearing (2) for bearing main shaft in transmission using KM-454-2 (6) in conjunction with KM-454-4 (1).   Needle bearing side with writing points to transmission.     Install, Connect    Install differential - see operation "Differential, Remove and Install (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".

  Install, Connect   

Install end shield (1) in transmission - see operation "Gasket for End Shield, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Install end shield cover (2) - see operation "Gasket for End Shield Cover, Replace (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".   Install reversing lamps switch (4) with new seal ring - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.   Install shift cover (3) - see operation "Shift Cover, Disassemble and Reassemble (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".     Inspect    Check transmission fluid level - see operation "Transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct (F 13/F 15/F 17/F 18/F 18+)".
