Steering Wheel, Remove and Install (Vehicles with 3-Spoke Steering Wheel)
Important! Prior to assembly operations involving the airbag observe, without fail, the "Safety Regulations for Restraint Systems".
Remove, Disconnect Disconnect battery ground lead and cover terminal. Wait one minute. Unscrew both bolts of airbag unit with MKM-604-29 (1). Carefully lift airbag unit and disconnect wiring harness plug (2) from airbag unit. Detach wiring harness plug (3) from airbag unit.
Important! The airbag unit must not be forced open and must always be laid with the cushion side facing upwards. Turn front wheels to "straight ahead" position and remove ignition key. Turn steering wheel until steering lock engages. |

Remove, Disconnect Detach wiring harness plug for horn signal / radio remote control (3). Bend open locking plate (2) and unscrew nut (1) from steering shaft. Install KM-210-B (4). For this, first place adapter piece onto spindle, unscrew spindle as far as possible and detach steering wheel. If necessary, carefully push remover hooks slightly downwards and then turn.
Important! Do not release airbag contact unit detent and steering lock until re-installation. |

Install, Connect Align steering wheel such that the respective mark (1 LHD and 2 RHD vehicles) on the steering wheel is always located perpendicular to the steering column.
Important! Ensure that contact unit cable connection passes through opening in steering wheel without resistance when fitting steering wheel. |

Install, Connect Fit new retaining plate. Attach and tighten steering wheel fastening nut to steering shaft - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. Secure fastening nut with retaining plate. Connect wiring harness plug for horn/radio remote control. Connect airbag wiring harness plug (1) and secure with retaining insert (2). Attach both of airbag unit fastening bolts (3) with MKM-604-29 and tighten - 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. Connect ground cable to battery.
Inspect If, during test drive, it is determined that steering wheel spokes are not in straight ahead position when driving straight ahead, the appropriate correction must be carried out. |
