Notes:

• ◆ Place removed tappets on a clean surface with the working side (camshaft side) facing downwards.

• ◆ Defective tappets tappets must be renewed complete (cannot be adjusted or repaired).
• ◆ Irregular tappet noises when starting engine are normal.

• ‒ Start engine and let it run until radiator fan has switched on once.
• ‒ Run engine to approx. 2500 rpm for two minutes. If the hydraulic tappets are still noisy determine wich tappet is defective as follows:
• ‒ Remove valve cover.
• ‒ Rotate crankshaft until cams of tappets to be cheked are pointing upwards.

• ‒ → Press tappet downwards with a wooden or plastic edge. Should free travel of more than 0.1 mm be left before valve starts to open, renew tappet.
