Installing
   
–  Screw the top fabric retainer -1- with fitting brackets -V.A.G 1887--2- onto the body.
–  To install the top, the top fabric retainer can be separated at the rivets of the connecting plate.

–  Pull the top cover -1- into the top fabric retainer -2- (use lubricant to pull in, e.g. silicon lubricant spray D 007 000 A2).
–  When pulling in the top fabric, the rear window must be resting on the top fabric retainer.

–  Align centre marking on top cover -1- (weld point) with central marking on the top fabric retainer -2- (hole in retainer).

–  Fasten water deflector -2- with rivets -1- to top fabric retainer -3-.
–  Rivet together the split retainer for top fabric with the connecting plate -5- and the rivets -4-.
–  Unscrew the fitting brackets -V.A.G 1887-.
–  Screw the top fabric retainer to the body.

–  Press the retaining cable -1- on left and right into side guides -2-.
  Note
The slot in the spreader nut -3- in the cable guide area must always be aligned at right angles to the direction of travel.

–  Pull in the retaining cable -1- on left and right using an auxiliary wire -2-.

–  Rivet retaining cable in place in the front section -1-.

–  Fit the top cover -1- onto the roof edge, align it and glue it in place with 2-component leatherette adhesive D 000 801.
–  Install the fastening strip for the front edge of top.
–  Glue the securing strip for the top cover -1- onto the roof frame with 2-component leatherette adhesive D 000 801.

–  Pull in the rivet -4-, attach the clips -3-, screw on the edging rail -2- and fit the seal -1-.
  Note
Any creases can be eliminated by heating the top cover with a hot air blower.
