Modified ABS/EDL Teves 04 unit

Golf left-hand drive vehicles from chassis number1HRP376952to chassis number 1 H RP 384 545 have on occasions been fitted with ABS/EDL Teves 04 units that are only equipped with the ABS function.

Consequently only an ABS control unit, part No. 1H0 907 379 B and an ABS wiring harness part No. 1H1 971 279 E have been installed to the effected vehicles.

The ABS/EDL units installed differ from the standard ABS/EDL units in the following ways:

  • ◆ No EDL series resistance.
  • ◆ Longer valve block, even though no EDL function.
  • ◆ Part number 1H1 614 101 B on brake servo type plate.

If the above described ABS/EDL unit is defective it must be exchanged for an ABS unit
Part No. 1H1 698 117 C.

Additionally both brake pipes from hydraulic unit to brake master cylinder must be replaced; Part No. 1H1 698 705

Only if a single brake pipe from hydraulic unit to brake master cylinder is damaged must the brake pipes (Part No. 1H1 698 705 A from ABS/EDL unit be used.

If replaced the following new parts must be used:

  • ◆ Hydraulic unit 1H1 698 117 C
  • ◆ Brake pipes 1H1 698 705
