Bleeding brake system with brake filling and bleeding unit -VW 1238/1- or -V.A.G 1238 B- |
Caution When using brake filling and bleeding unit -V.A.G 1869- to replenish the brake fluid, make sure that filling pressure does not exceed 1 bar. |
|
For this reason the brake fluid pressure must be reduced to 1 bar on the brake filling and bleeding unit -VW 1238/1- and -V.A.G 1869-. To find out how to do this, refer to operating instructions for -VW 1238/1- and -V.A.G 1869-. |
The brake filling and bleeding unit -V.A.G 1238B- is not suitable for bleeding the brake system using the function “Initiate basic setting”. |
If this is the only equipment available, the brake filling and bleeding unit -V.A.G 1238/B- must be switched on/off to ensure that there is always sufficient brake fluid in the expansion tank. |
If the filling pressure exceeds 1 bar, it cannot be guaranteed that the hydraulic unit is bled sufficiently. |
Opening the bleed screws on the hydraulic unit is not permitted on vehicles with ABS, ABS/EDL. |
–
| Connect -VW 1238/1- or -V.A.G 1238 B-. |

1 - Rear right wheel brake cylinder/ brake caliper |
2 - Rear left wheel brake cylinder/ brake caliper |
3 - Front right brake caliper |
4 - Front left brake caliper |
Note t
| On vehicles with a brake pressure regulator, move the regulator lever when bleeding rear brakes. |
t
| Depress brake pedal several times during the bleeding sequence. |
Vehicles with ABS or ABS/EDL |
