  Note
Brake master cylinders and brake servos from different manufacturers are installed. Complete brake master cylinders and brake servos can be renewed independently of each other.
1 - Cover
2 - Gasket
3 - Brake fluid reservoir
4 - Sealing plug
q   Moisten with brake fluid and press into expansion tank.
5 - Rear right brake pressure regulator (pressure-dependent)
q   Checking → Chapter
q   For vehicles with a 1.4l engine only.
q   Not adjustable
6 - Brake master cylinder
q   Cannot be repaired. If faulty, renew complete.
7 - 20 Nm
8 - Spring ring
q   Renew
9 - Rear left brake pressure regulator (pressure-dependent)
q   Checking → Chapter
q   For vehicles with a 1.4l engine only.
q   Not adjustable
10 - Sealing ring
q   Renew
11 - Brake servo
q   On petrol engines the vacuum required is taken from the intake manifold.
q   On diesel engines an exhauster is installed to generate vacuum.
q   Functional check
–  With engine switched off, depress brake pedal firmly several times (to exhaust the vacuum in the unit).
–  Now depress brake pedal with average foot pressure, hold and start engine. If the brake servo is working properly, the brake pedal will now give perceptibly under foot (servo assistance becomes activated).
q  
q   If faulty renew complete.
q   Separating from brake pedal → Chapter.
q   Non-return valve (in vacuum hose)
Functional check
–  You should be able to blow air through the valve in the direction of the arrow.
–  The valve must not allow anything to pass in the opposite direction of the arrow.
