Wheel hub with compressed splines, vehicles with plus running gear

N40-0001

The wheel hub splines have been modified.

→ The peaks of the splines (arrow) are compressed slightly. This means that there is now no longer any backlash between the splines of the outer joint and wheel hub.

This new process requires a new method of tightening the 12-point nut.

Removing and installing the drive shaft is no longer possible without tools.

In the future only wheel hubs with compressed splines will be supplied as a replacement part. If these hubs are used, no locking fluid is necessary.

The work sequence for removing and installing the drive shaft has been modified.
