| Remove fuse no. 32 from fuse holder. |
Note | Fuse is removed to interrupt power supply to injectors. |

| Pull connectors off outer injectors. |
| –
| Pull off spark plug connector using puller -T10112-. |
| –
| Unscrew spark plugs using spark plug socket and extension -3122 B-. |
| –
| Check compression using compression tester -V.A.G 1763- and adapter -V.A.G 1763/6-. |
Note | –
| Have a second mechanic operate the starter. |
| –
| Operate starter until tester shows no further pressure increase. |
| New: 10...13 bar pressure. Wear limit: 7.5 bar. |
| Permitted difference between all cylinders: 3 bar |
| –
| After completing work, erase fault memory of engine control unit because removing the fuse caused a fault to be saved → Chapter. |
