  Note
t  Removing and installing exhaust manifold → Chapter.
t  Mounting position and specified torque of the clamping sleeve → Chapter
t  After working on the exhaust system, ensure that the system is not under tension and that there is sufficient clearance to the bodywork. If necessary, loosen clamping sleeve and align silencer and exhaust end pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded.
t  Renew self-locking nuts.
t  The decoupling element of the front exhaust pipe must be secured with transportation lock -T10404- to stop overstretching.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Lambda probe open ring spanner set -3337-

t  Transport guard -T10404-
  Note
If the particulate filter or the exhaust gas pressure sensor 1 -G450- is changed, the exhaust gas pressure sensor 1 -G450- must always be adapted using diagnosis tester: Guided functions; adapting exhaust pressure sensor 1 -G450-.

2 - 10 Nm
3 - Shield
4 - Lambda probe -G39-
q   50 Nm
q   Grease only the threads with high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-; high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3- must not get into the slots of probe body.
q   To remove use Lambda probe open ring spanner set -3337-.
5 - Exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648-
q   45 Nm
q   Lubricate thread of sender using high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-
6 - Gasket
q   Renew.
q   Note installation position.
7 - Clamp, 7 Nm
8 - Exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-
q   45 Nm
q   Lubricate thread of sender using high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-
9 - 25 Nm
10 - Mounting
q   Renew if damaged.
11 - Particulate filter
q   With oxidation catalytic converter and front exhaust pipe.
q   After renewing, the adaption of ash mass comparison must be set to zero with the vehicle diagnosis tester under „Guided functions“.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
12 - 25 Nm
13 - Bracket
q   Bolted to cylinder head.
14 - Control line, 45 Nm
q   If not fitted, seal with dummy plugs.
15 - Bracket
q   Bolted to diesel particulate filter.
16 - Clip
q   Renew.
17 - Bracket
q   Bolted to cylinder head.
18 - 25 Nm
19 - 8 Nm
20 - 25 Nm
