Removing and installing particulate filter with NOx storage catalytic converter

  Note
t  Assembly overview - turbocharger with exhaust manifold and attachments → Chapter.
t  Assembly overview - exhaust flap control unit -J883- with SCR catalytic converter → Chapter
t  After working on the particulate filter with NOx storage catalytic converter, ensure it is installed free of stress.
t  Renew self-locking nuts, seals, gaskets and securing clamps.
t  Hose connections are secured with either spring-type or clamp-type clips.
t  Renew clamp-type clips with spring-type clips.
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 6362- or hose clip pliers -VAS 6340- are recommended for installation of spring-type clips.
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Locating pins -T10096-
t  Ratchet ring spanner -T10384-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
t  Engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A-
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 6362-

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Transportation lock -T10404-
  Note
t  Subframe must be lowered to remove and install particulate filter with NOx trap. Locating pins -T10096- are required to secure the subframe.
t  Assembly overview - turbocharger with exhaust manifold and attachments → Chapter.
t  Assembly overview - particulate filter with NOx storage catalytic converter → Chapter.
t  Assembly overview - exhaust flap control unit -J883- with SCR catalytic converter → Chapter
t  Hose connections are secured with either spring-type or clamp-type clips.
t  Renew clamp-type clips with spring-type clips.
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 6362- or hose clip pliers -VAS 6340- are recommended for installation of spring-type clips.
