EGR Temperature Sensor
-
Remove EGR Temperature Sensor from the EGR valve.
-
Switch multimeter to resistance range of 200,000 ohm.
-
Connect multimeter to terminals of the EGR Temperature Sensor and record resistance.
^
Resistance should be between 80,000 and 160,000 ohms.
-
IF NOT replace sensor.
-
IF YES, continue with test.
-
With multimeter connected to sensor terminals submerge the sensor in boiling water, i.e. 176° - 212°F (80° - 100°C) and observe resistance
reading on meter.
^
Resistance should change from recorded reading in step 7.
-
IF NOT replace sensor.
-
IF YES, the sensor is good, re-install and torque to 20 Nm (15 ft.lb.).
-
Reconnect EGR Temperature Sensor harness connector.
