To ensure customer satisfaction, you should make every effort to promptly  schedule an appointment with any vehicle owner whose air bag warning light
has illuminated and to repair the vehicle at the arranged appointment time. Additionally, please adhere to all instructions in this circular.

Dealer's Action

You should have an "action plan" so that a vehicle can be serviced as quickly as possible with minimum customer inconvenience. Such a plan may
include:

^

Offer a "waiting customer" shuttle service to local stores, entertainment centers, etc. while the vehicle is being serviced;

^

Return vehicle washed and interior cleaned;

^

Utilize other dealer resources to minimize customer's wait time;

^

Offer of a loaner vehicle, if warning light has illuminated and a replacement ECM is not readily available or if the customer is otherwise
inconvenienced.

Whatever "action plan" you choose, it is important that the customer is treated in a courteous and friendly manner.

Dealer's Personnel

Please provide a copy of this circular to every person in your dealership (sales, service, parts, etc.) who will or may be involved in this action.

Campaign Circular TC (Revised)

Dear Volkswagen Service Manager:

Enclosed are two copies of the revised TC campaign circular which supersedes the original circulars recently sent to you. Please discard the original
circulars.

The revisions appear in the Work Procedure and are as follows:

- 

If part number reads 6N0 909 601 D, no replacement is necessary.

- 

If the part number reads 701 909 601 D, followed by a code other than "MASKE3" or is blank (Illustration B), carefully replace the unit with a
new ECM, part number 701 909 603 D or 6N0 909 601 D, after disconnecting battery ground strap.

CAUTION:

^ Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap before removing air bag ECM

^ Do not break harness connector clip

^ Handle ECM very carefully

^ Protect radio code

Again, please ensure that the original circulars are discarded.
