–  Remove hose clamps -3094- from suction and return hoses.
–  Start engine and, if necessary, top up fluid level in reservoir.
–  Turn steering wheel approx. 10 times from lock to lock.
–  Now check delivery pressure.
Test prerequisites:
l  Poly V-belt and poly V-belt tension OK.
l  System must be free of leaks.
l  Hoses and lines must not be kinked or restricted.
–  With engine running at idling speed, close shut-off valve (not longer than 5 seconds) and read pressure.
Specification: 100 ± 4 bar
  Note
t  Renew the pump if the reading is higher or lower than specified:
t  Removing and installing vane pump → Chapter.
t  Always check steering system for leaks if fluid level in reservoir is low.
t  If leakage is visible at steering pinion, first check pipes and pipe connections for leaks. Tighten and wipe dry if necessary.
t  Renew steering gear if leakage is found at steering pinion seal or at steering rack seals in steering gear housing.
t  To check steering rack seals, loosen hose clip on boot and push back boot.
