Flange Shaft Seals

Example of the Identification on a "02D" Rear Final Drive

‹› The marking - arrow - on the bottom side of the rear final drive identifies which final drive is installed.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Extractor lever (VW 681)

‹› Plate from the puller (T10037)

‹› Thrust piece (T10049)

‹› Drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

‹› Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)

 Removing

‹› Do not remove the rear final drive for this.

‹› This procedure applies to both sides.

Remove the drive axle.

-

Place the drip tray under rear final drive. 

Flange Shaft, Removing

-

Install the plate - A - from the puller (T10037) on the flange and tighten the two M8 x 30 bolts -  1 - by hand.
