Clean old sealant from 3 mm holes in cylinder head gasket - arrows
NOTE: When the cylinder head is installed the holes in the head gasket are only half visible.

Install camshaft sprockets with double chain.

Fill 3 mm holes in cylinder head gasket with sealant AMV 188 001 02.

Coat sealing surfaces of cover for camshaft sprockets with sealant AMV 188 001 02.

Lubricate 0-ring with oil and insert in camshaft sprocket cover.

Install camshaft sprocket cover, insert all bolts and hand-tighten.

First tighten M 8 bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft lb)

Then tighten M 6 bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft lb.).

Install chain tensioner for double chain and tighten to 3O Nm (22 ft lb).
CAUTION:
If chain tensioner was pulled apart, bleed chain tensioner before installing.
When new lifters were installed, do not start the engine for 30 minutes. The lifters must settle first as otherwise the valves would hit the
pistons.
