Removing and installing injectors
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Ring spanner -3035-
  Note
t  Defective injectors cause the following faults:
t  Misfiring
t  Knocking in one or more cylinders
t  Engine over-heating
t  Loss of power
t  Excessive black exhaust smoke
t  Higher fuel consumption
t  Excessive blue smoke when starting from cold
Defective injectors can be located by loosening the injector pipe unions in turn with the engine running at a fast idling speed. If engine speed remains constant after loosening a pipe union, this indicates a defective injector.
Removing
–  Remove injection lines with ring spanner -3035-.
  Note
Always remove pipe set complete. Do not alter shape.
–  Remove securing nut, take off retainer and take out injector.
Installing
  Note
Always renew heat insulating seal between cylinder head and injectors.
–  Insert injector.
–  Check mounting brackets are seated correctly in cylinder head.
–  Fit retainer.
Specified torques:
Injection lines = 25 Nm.
Retainer bolt = 20 Nm.
