Generator (Alternator) -C- for 1.4l (BAY) engine - remove and install Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench - 5 to 50 Nm ( enc. 1/2") -VAG 1331-

t  Pin -T 10060- Removal: –  Turn off the ignition and all electrical equipment, and remove the key from ignition. –  Disconnect the Battery -A- → Chapter.

–  Remove engine cover panel, if required → Engine; Rep. gr.23.

–  Remove the lower engine noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50.

–  Remove the hose between the intercooler/intake flange and the air mass meter.

–  Disengage connector -1- and remove protective cover -2-.

–  Loosen securing nut -arrow- on cable (B+) and remove the cable.

–  Loosen securing nut -arrow- from the Generator (Alternator) -C-cable support. –  Mark the Poly-V belt movement direction.

–  Move the tensioning element towards the -arrow- to relieve the Poly-V belt tension.

–  Lock the tensioning element with the Pin -T10060A-. –  Remove the Poly-V belt.

–  Loosen the fastening screws -arrows- from the Generator (Alternator) -C-. –  Remove the Generator (Alternator) -C-. Installation: Installation is performed in reverse sequence to the removal, considering the following: –  First, place Poly-V belt on the crankshaft pulley, and then on the tensioning roller, as indicated on the belt run → Engine; Rep. gr.13. –  Tighten the securing nuts and screws to the specified tightening torque → Chapter.   Note After finishing the procedure, start the engine and check the belt motion.
