Removing and installing front seat backrest
Removing and installing front seat backrest
  Note
Removal and installation is described for the left seat of a 4-door model. Follow same instructions for the other seats as appropriate.
Removing
–  Remove front seat → Chapter.
–  Removing front belt buckle → Chapter.
–  Removing seat trim on tunnel side → Chapter.
–  Removing seat trim on sill side:
t  Seat without height adjustment → Chapter.
t  Seat with height adjustment → Chapter.
–  Disconnect wiring harness connectors for backrest and free the individual wiring harnesses.
  Note
Wiring harness between connector point and side airbag is continuous.
   
–  If fitted, separate electrical cables from seat frame.
–  Remove bolts -3- and -4-
–  Remove bolts -1- and -2-
  Note
On 2-door models the backrest is secured by two bolts. Unhook Bowden cable for operating backrest.
–  Release backrest from seat.

Installing
–  Install in reverse order of removal.
  Note
t  The bolts are microencapsulated and must be renewed each time they are loosened.
t  Before new bolts are installed, the threads of the corresponding holes must be cleaned.
   
l  Install bolts in assembly sequence -1-, -2-, -3- and -4-!
Torque for bolts is 24 Nm.
