Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Adapter -VAS 6551/5-2-
l  Tests on fuel low-pressure side have been performed and were not cause for complaint.
l  Fuel tank is filled with clean fuel to DIN EN 590.
l  Starter turning at starting speed ≥ 230revs/min. → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27 Anlasser, Stromversorgung
l  Observe safety precautions → Chapter.
l  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
l  Observe instructions for working on fuel system → Chapter
Testing low pressure of fuel: testing low-pressure fuel systems (fuel pump) → Chapter
»Carry out the following work sequence«
   
–  Pull fuel return line off high-pressure pump -2-.
–  Connect adapter -VAS 6551/5-2- to high-pressure pump return.

–  Hold adapter -VAS 6551/5-2--1- in a suitable container -2- to check return flow rate.
Measure with starting speed ≥ 230revs/min.

–  Remove connector from fuel metering valve -N290--A-.

–  Hold return line in a suitable receptacle to check return quantity.
Return flow rate present, continue with checks on high-pressure accumulator → Chapter.
No return flow rate, renew high-pressure pump → Chapter.
