Valve Cover: Service and Repair
Cylinder Head Cover

Spring-type clip pliers VAS 6340

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
Removing
Note:
^
To perform work sequence, the ground cable must be disconnected from battery. Check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain
anti-theft coding beforehand.

With the ignition switched off disconnect battery ground strap.

All cable ties which are opened or cut open when removing, must be replaced in the same position when installing.

Remove intake manifold.

Remove the wiring guide.

Remove the fuel line bracket.
-
Remove the cylinder head cover.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

First tighten all the mounting bolts by hand then tighten them to 10 Nm in a diagonal sequence.

Install intake manifold Intake Manifold.
Note:

Replace cylinder head cover and/or seal if damaged or leaking.

Ensure fuel line is seated securely in retainers.
