Removing and installing B-pillar trim
Removing and installing B-pillar trim
  Note
The removal and installation sequence is only for the left B-pillar trim. Removal and installation of the right B-pillar trim are similar.
Fitting notes
t  The bonded trim cannot be removed without damage.
t  Heat up trim in area of bonding surface using hot air blower -V.A.G 1416- prior to removal.
t  Remove existing adhesive residue of adhesive tape using adhesive strip remover -VAS 6349-.
t  If a trim is removed and reattached, only use adhesive remover -D 002 000 10- to remove the adhesive residue.
t  Ensure that the adhesive surfaces are free of dust and grease.
t  The trim must be bonded in place immediately following cleaning.
t  Remove protective backing immediately before installation.
t  Working temperature is approx. 21°C.
Removing
   
–  Pull spreader rivet -3- out of grommet -4--arrow a-.
–  Follow installation instructions → Anchor.
–  Pull B-pillar trim -1- downwards in -direction of arrow b-.
–  Pull B-pillar trim -1- off adhesive strips -5-.

Installing
   
–  Check grommets -4- and -6- for damage and renew if necessary.
–  Follow installation instructions → Anchor.
–  Clean bonding surfaces.
–  Fit new adhesive strips -5- and remove protective backing.
–  Insert B-pillar trim -1- in -direction of arrow c- into grommets -6-. Do not yet press B-pillar trim onto adhesive strips.
–  Insert spreader rivet -3- into grommet -4--arrow d-.
–  Firmly press B-pillar trim -1- onto adhesive strips -5-.
