  Note
t  After every brake pad change, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary, so that brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
t  Use the brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS 5234- to draw off brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.
t  Before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose, fit brake pedal depressor -V.A.G 1869/2- (when doing this, release pressure in system).
Assembly overview - brake caliper FS III:
1 - Brake disc
q   Ventilated, Ø 256 mm
q   Thickness: 22 mm
q   Wear limit: 19 mm.
q   Always renew on both sides of an axle.
q   Unscrew brake caliper prior to removal.
q   Never remove brake discs from wheel hub by force. If necessary use penetrating fluid, because otherwise brake discs can be damaged.
2 - Torx bolt, 4.5 Nm
3 - Brake pads
q   Thickness: 14 mm not including backplate.
q   Wear limit: 2 mm not including backplate.
q   Checking thickness → Booklet.
q   Always renew on both sides of an axle.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
4 - Brake caliper
q   Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
q   Repairing → Chapter.
5 - Guide pin, 30 Nm
6 - Cover cap
q   Remove
7 - Spring pin
8 - Brake hose with banjo union and banjo bolt, 35 Nm
9 - Wheel hub with wheel bearing
q   Pressing out and in → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.40.
10 - Torx bolts, 12 Nm
11 - Splash plate
12 - Wheel bearing housing
q   With integrated brake carrier.
q   Lightly grease brake pad guiding surfaces with lithium grease G 052150 A2.
13 - ABS speed sensor
q   Before inserting sensor, clean hole inner surface and coat with high-temperature paste G 052 112 A3.
14 - Torx bolt, 8 Nm
