Torque nut to 37 N-m (27 ft.lbs). Counterhold top of shaft with 5179.
Check rack
Turn rack between end positions and check for smooth operation. If rack binds, guide sleeve is probably out-of-true or the rack warped.

Install:

plastic bushing. Tap bushing into position with drift 5048 and a plastic mallet

seal. Grease thoroughly. Position seal with lip facing down. Carefully tap seal into position with drift 5048

lock ring
-
dust cover. Grease the dust cover.

Pack plug seal with grease, P/N 1161001-1.
Install Plug using drift 2706.
Install pre-tension assembly
