Timing Belt: Application and ID
1992 - 1993 B6304
These engines may have a 21mm wide timing belt or a 23mm wide timing belt depending on whether or not the timing belt upgrade has been
completed. If the engine is still equipped with a 21mm wide timing belt it is recommended that the timing belt upgrade be performed and the 23mm
belt be used.

1993 - 1994 B6304
The camshaft drive has been modified in many ways in order to raise the replacement interval to 50,000 miles / 75,000 km. The cam belt has been
replaced by a new 23mm wide belt. The new 23mm belt has red markings and is longer than the previous belt. The diameters of the tensioner reel and
the idler pulley have also been increased. Modifications have also been made to the belt-drive on the water pump, oil pump and tensioner-damper
element. The new cam belt cover is also wider and has been supplied with labels indicating the new replacement interval. The new 23mm belt along
with the exhaust cam wheel with integrated vibration damper was introduced just before the 1994 model introduction.
1995 - 1996 B6304
The timing belt has again been widened from 23mm to 28mm and thus the replacement interval has been increased to 70,000 miles / 105,000 km. All
toothed belt components such as idler pulleys and toothed belt wheels are widened as is the timing belt cover. The diameter of the toothed belt pulleys
for the camshafts, crankshaft and water pump have also been increased. The new 28mm wide belt is thus wider and longer than the previous 23mm
belt.
1997 - 1998 B6304
The same 28 mm timing belt continues to be used although the replacement interval has been increased to 80,000 miles / 120,00 km.
