Steering Column Lock: Testing and Inspection
Key Interlock Solenoid Test
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Locations and the precautions
and procedures See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.
1. Remove the steering column covers See: Service and Repair/Steering Column Removal/Installation.
2. Disconnect the steering lock assembly 6P connector, and then turn the ignition switch to ACC (I).
3. Connect battery voltage to terminal No. 4 of the steering lock assembly, and ground terminal No. 3, then try turning the ignition switch to LOCK
(0); the ignition switch should not turn.
4. Disconnect the power and ground from terminals, then turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and remove the key; the ignition switch should turn
and the key can be removed.
5. If the key interlock solenoid does not work as specified, replace the steering lock See: Service and Repair.
