Parking Brake Pedal: Adjustments
Minor adjustment:
1. Raise the rear wheels off the ground, and support the vehicle on safety stands.
WARNING: Block the front wheels before jacking up the rear of the vehicle.
2. Remove the rear console end cover.
3. Press the parking brake pedal one click.
4. Tighten the adjusting nut until the parking brakes drag slightly when the rear wheels are turned.
5. Release the parking brake pedal fully, and check that the parking brakes do not drag when the rear wheels are turned. Readjust if necessary.
6. With the equalizer properly adjusted, the parking brake should be fully applied when the parking brake pedal is pressed 6- 8 clicks.
7. Install the rear console end cover.
Major adjustment:
Adjust the parking brake shoe lining-to-drum clearance with the adjuster in the drum of each rear wheel.
NOTE: Make sure the parking brake linings are not worn beyond the service limit. If either lining is worn beyond the limit, both brake shoes must be
replaced.
CAUTION: After replacing the linings, make sure you drive the vehicle for "break-in" purposes.
