Inspection Procedure
Inspect the upper intake manifold gasket.

If the gasket needs to be replaced, be sure to remove any gasket material that may be stuck to the mating surfaces of the manifold.
^
Be careful not to leave any scratches in the aluminum casting.
^
Install a new gasket when the mating surface is clean.
Installation Procedure
1. Place the upper intake manifold on the lower intake manifold over the studs.
2. Install the long bolts and the short bolts in the proper holes.
Tighten:
Tighten the upper intake manifold bolts to 20.5 N.m (180 lb in.).
3. Install the upper intake manifold mounting nuts on the studs.
Tighten:
Tighten the upper intake manifold mounting nuts to 20.5 N.m (180 lb in.).
4. Install the bolt and the bracket which secure the PCV fresh air tube.
5. Install the bolts to the bracket at the rear of the upper intake manifold.
6. Install the bolt to the bracket at the right front of the engine.
7. Install the tube to the bracket on the bottom of the MAP sensor.
8. Install the bolt to the bracket on the bottom of the MAP sensor.
9. Install the throttle body.
10. Install the throttle body mounting bolts. Refer to Throttle Body
11. Install the EGR supply tube.
12. Install the EGR supply tube bracket.
13. Connect the following electrical connectors:

The intake air temperature sensor.
^
The idle air controller (IAC).
^
The throttle position (TP) sensor.
^
The EVAP canister purge valve.
^
The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
^
The linear EGR valve (EGR).
^
The ignition control module.
14. Connect the vacuum booster hose.
15. Connect the EVAP canister vacuum hose.
16. Connect the PCV hose.
17. Install the throttle cable assembly.
18. Connect the negative battery cable.
