Ignition Lock: Service and Repair
On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
1. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming
procedures.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove instrument panel lower cover and knee bolster assembly.
4. Remove upper and lower steering column covers.
5. Disconnect ignition switch electrical connectors.
6. Remove steering column holder mounting bolts and nuts, then the lower column.
7. Remove each of the heads from the two shear bolts using a 5mm (3/16 inch) drill bit.
8. Remove steering lock assembly.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
10. On models equipped with radio coded theft protection system, refer to Vehicle Damage Warnings for system disarming and arming
procedures.
11. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
